The official website of the Department of Home Affair updated the GTI project last week, and announced the recognized professional directions in 10 target areas! The GTI project has been launched for nearly one and a half years. During the period of several adjustments, the project has become more mature. From the initiative to contact outstanding talents in Australia to apply, to accept outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate graduates and doctoral students (there may be no work) application, and to the present, if you only have academic qualifications and do not have work income, it does not meet the requirements. It has also undergone many policy changes.

The latest 10 major areas are as follows:

1. Resources

The resource industry is one of the ten newly added industries that comply with GTI. Expanded from the original mining industry to a variety of resources, covering natural gas, oil, heavy metals, coal, forests, etc.

2. Agri-food and AgTech

Newly added agro-food related, not limited to technology.

3. Energy

Various energy sources, including electric energy, thermal energy, solar energy, wind energy, etc.

4. Health industries

Expanding from medical technology to the entire health-related industry refers to all employees in medical research, medical technology and health industries except doctors.

5. Defence, advanced manufacturing and space

6. Circular economy

Including waste utilization, environmental science, etc.

7.Digitech

The two fields of Cyber Security and Quantum Information, Advanced Digital, Data Science and ICT, which were previously related to the IT field, are summarized.

8.Infrastructure and tourism 

Including intelligent transportation system, urban infrastructure, urban planning, real estate technology, tourism industry executives, tourism architecture (resort) design and planning.

9.Financial services and FinTech

From the expansion of financial technology to financial services, all industries and practitioners related to finance are covered. Including financial investment experts, financial investment consultants, insurance experts, fund managers, risk control managers, trust experts, and financial technology experts, including big data finance, artificial intelligence finance, regional chain finance, quantitative finance, digital currency, and university professors in related fields, etc. 

10.Education

Including founders of education and training institutions, middle and high-level managers, (vice) principals, heads of disciplines, researchers in the field of education, or professors from well-known universities, etc.

In general, the GTI visa has expanded the scope of application and is currently in a period of favorable policies. Future applications are not as easy as initial applications.
