As Canada's second dose of COVID-19 vaccine continues to increase, the country is close to reopening its borders.
Today, let’s share with your a big wave of good news about the unblocking of the epidemic and the exemption from entry!
1. Canadian border restart in two phases
Starting at 12:01 AM on August 9, U.S. citizens and permanent residents who have been fully vaccinated with Canadian-approved vaccines are allowed to enter Canada without 14 days of isolation.
It is planned that from September 7th, travelers from other countries who have been vaccinated with Canada-approved vaccines do not need to be quarantined when entering the country.
In addition, since August 9th, children under 12 years old do not need to be quarantined after they enter Canada from the United States with their parents, as long as they follow public health measures because there is no approved vaccine.
The government has previously stated that Canada will consider opening its borders if the vaccination of Canadians progresses smoothly. Currently, 80% of people in Canada have received one dose of the vaccine, and more than 50% have received two doses of the vaccine. At the same time, foreign tourists must abide by the public health measures of various provinces and regions after entering the country.
2. Cancel the 3-day hotel quarantine for passengers arriving by plane
Beginning at 12:01 AM Eastern Time on August 9, the 3-day government-mandatory hotel quarantine policy for passengers arriving by plane, including international students, will be cancelled.
But, at present, all persons entering the country by air still need to have the necessary reasons, and must provide an isolation plan when entering the country and prepare for isolation after entry.
As early as last week, Canada waived the 14-day mandatory quarantine requirement for inbound travelers who had been vaccinated.
However, Canada currently only grants isolation exemptions to four vaccines approved by the health department, namely Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen.
