Canada Unilaterally Opens the Border Between the United States and Canada, Pay Attention to These New Regulations!

Starting on August 9th, Canada reopened the border between the United States and Canada. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are fully vaccinated come to Canada without testing, and the 3-day hotel quarantine will be canceled.

Regulation details

Cancel mandatory hotel quarantine

After the US-Canada border is reopened, all travelers entering Canada will no longer need to be forced to undergo a 3-day hotel quarantine. Although hotel quarantine can be exempted, if there is no vaccine approved by the Canadian government ( Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen), you still need to be quarantined at home for 14 days.

Children under 12 years old do not need to be quarantined for 14 days

From August 9th, children under 12 years old who have not been vaccinated, if their parents have been fully vaccinated, can be exempted from isolation and only need to undergo a nucleic acid test on the ground and a self-test on the 8th day.

Inbound nucleic acid testing relax

Under the new policy, all passengers need to provide nucleic acid test results within 72 hours before departure.

However, since August 9th, for passengers who have been fully vaccinated with the Canadian-approved vaccine, after arriving in Canada, they no longer need to undergo nucleic acid testing at the airport. Instead, they will be randomly selected. For inbound passengers who have not been vaccinated, the airport nucleic acid test is still required, and the home nucleic acid test on the eighth day is still required.

Within 14 days after landing, you must report your health status regularly

All fully vaccinated travelers can enter Canada. From September 7th, all passengers, regardless of nationality and place of departure, can enter Canada as long as they complete two doses of vaccinations. The vaccine mentioned here refers to the four vaccines approved by Canada ( Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen).

At the same time, for passengers who can enter the country before the new policy, if they are fully vaccinated with approved vaccines, they will not be denied boarding from August 9. Eligible immigrants do not need to present a "necessary entry" certificate, and minors who have not been vaccinated can enter the country with their parents.
